The best and unique way to discover how ancient Romans used to live

In order to promote Italian tourism in this period of crisis due to the COVID-19 emergency, Visit Ostia antica offers exceptionally discounted prices. Take advantage of these special prices!

Ostia Antica is a perfectly preserved ancient Roman town, the harbor of Rome at the mouth of the river Tiber. It is located at about 30 Km from the center of Rome and only 8 Km from the International Airport Leonardo da Vinci. As it is a huge archeological site (bigger than Pompei), a long tour is warmly recommended.

In the 50-hectare archeological park ancient ruins and nature merge into each other to create enchanting views. It is a unique site to really understand daily life in ancient Rome, from the Republic to the end of the Western Roman Empire. Ostia was a harbor and therefore it hosted people coming from all over the Mediterranean, a place in which different languages, beliefs, ethnicities and cultures encountered and mixed.

The itinerary will lead you to discover the impressive theater built under the Emperor Augustus, which is still in use today, the Baths of Neptune with their mythological mosaics, the ruins of the imposing Capitolium which dominated the forum, the laundries and the mills, and the world-famous insulae (apartment buildings for the lower and middle-class) and tabernae (shops).

The price does NOT inlcude the ticket to the archeological excavations of Ostia Antica.
