Ostia Antica Mystery Tour: Religions and rituals in ancient Rome

€55

per person

Discover with us the most arcane and secret rituals and behaviour of the ancient roman society

Our Mystery Tour will make you discover the secrets of Ostia Antica, the ancient harbor of Rome on the river Tiber, which was for many centuries a crossroads of languages, ethnicities, traditions and religions. Before the Nicene Christianity became the state religion in 380 AD, Ostia “hosted” deities of different origins: from the Magna Mater to Isis, from Attis to Serapis, all gods had their temples in Ostia. Our “Mystery tour” will make you discover a less known part of Ostia in order to better understand the dynamics of the ancient world. We will visit, among other things, the most ancient synagogue of the Mediterranean and several mithraea: the mystery cult of the god Mithras (brought from Persia by the Roman soldiers) was in fact exceptionally widespread.

The price includes the registration fee to our cultural association. It does NOT inlcude the ticket to the archeological excavations of Ostia Antica.
